it's the site of matriomonial mayhem. it's sabominator's XX chromosomes run wild. so fluff your tulle, adjust your basque waist and hang on - it's going to be a hell of a ride.

resolution and denouement

so i'm getting the pricey, beautiful work of art from the previous post. i put the 5-day hold deposit down on it yesterday.

thanks to mems and daddums, who are willing to help a brother out with dress financing.

just to be sure, e$ and i went back to marry and tux today to try on the next-best-dress. it was still pretty, but definitely not me; way too fancy, way too fussy, and too formal for bare feet and kz not in a tux. it's so good to have your thoughts confirmed. thanks e$! she also looked lovely in one of their dresses but i agree with her - she needs "something more" and i really hope she finds it on her paloma blanca quest this week - i'm crossing my fingers!! and the sash is all you, dude!

i also discovered that the dress i liked there was actually a slightly different style than the one i posted before; so i lied. it's this, but not in monstrous infected wound color, but in ivory.

while the drop waist is very nice, this dress is meant for cinderella dress-up, not sabominator's beach soiree with barbecue. bustling it would be a bitch, and the make quality paled in comparison to the liv harris dreamsicle of a gown below (which is a better approxmiation of the one i'm getting; thanks for finding it, mom):

i also tried on another of her dresses which was quite lovely, but not as perfect as the one above:

i really like her designs and the material. it makes me happy.

so, back to vow's on tuesday to try on the dress one last time before it goes off to the cleaner's (boy, do they understand that even if you put a non-refundable 10% down, you still want to put it on one last time). i'll take some real pictures this time but won't be sharing them with kz, to leave him something to the imagination for the big day.

it's done! i can't believe how quickly i found the right thing, and how easy it was to make a decision.

hunny! i love the dress! you are going to be such a stunning bride!!!

now that you have the dress, you can start thinking about where to register... remember, registering is important... if you don't, people will buy you lots of crap that makes you think "why would they do this to me?!" of course, some idiots do it even if you do register, but it's certainly far less. and here's another hint: if you have a store that you totally love the stuff at... say like crate & barrel or pottery barn or something... if people have bought almost everything on the registry, add some more stuff even if you don't want it... then you can take it back for store credit and use it on something else in the future. for example, we registered at pottery barn for our flatware... come to find out, they stratched the moment you take the soft side of a dish sponge to them, so i took them all back, held on to the $200+ credit for over a year, then finally decided to blow it all on these fantastic red/tan striped curtains. my flatware story also goes back to people not paying a lot of attention... once i found out it scratched, i took it off my list, but people still went in and bought more after it was gone. :)

another annoying thing people do is get you gift certificates to stores that you're registered in... like, we had a registry at bed, bath, and beyoooond, yet instead of buying the $20 item on our list, they gave a $20 gift certificate to the store... like, helloooo, you had to go in there anyway, why did you make me take a trip there, too!?

i think i should write a book... you can help with some witty comments... t&b's guide to getting married: you got the ring, now get everything else you want *bling bling*

getting the gifts and wearing the dress were my favorite parts. and eating a taco at my wedding... man, i wish i had gotten to eat more. anyway, it's really fun when you start getting huge boxes delivered to your door and like, you ENTIRE dish set comes all at once... it's like Christmas but better because you didn't have to buy anything for anyone else. :) hehehe. maybe that should be the title of the book "it's like christmas, but better"

i'll stop now....... love the dress!
